Electro-Harmonix, a pioneering company in the sound effects pedal industry since 1968, has created an app that faithfully recreates their analog cult-classic The MINI-SYNTHESIZER from around 1980.

Available for iPad and iPhone (iOS version 15.0 or later), the EHX MINI-SYNTHESIZER accurately reproduces all the vintage synth sounds of the original model with modern updates.

EHX President and Founder, Mike Matthews, stated: “Fans of vintage synths will appreciate the app's ability to replicate the original's warm analog sounds and deep funky bass. However, due to its affordability ($2.99 for phone, $4.99 for tablet) and user-friendly interface, parents, educators, and non-musicians alike will find it appealing as well.”

The MINI-SYNTHESIZER app comes with 25 presets and allows users to store almost an unlimited number of custom presets. It also includes Audiobus capabilities.

The MINI-SYNTHESIZER offers intuitive, flexible, and powerful control through its 12 sliders and nine switches. Here’s a breakdown of the user interface:

<ul>
<li>PITCH slider: Raises or lowers the pitch of the note by +/- 1 octave</li>
<li>SUB-OCTAVE slider: Introduces a note one octave below what's being played</li>
<li>OCTAVE UP switch: Causes the note being played to jump up one octave</li>
<li>TUNE knob: Allows tuning to other instruments and sound sources over a +/- 50 cents range</li>

<li>SWEEP RATE control</li>

<li>TIME slider adjusts delay time up to two seconds</li>
<li>FEEDBACK control for echo repeats</li>
<li>BLEND control mixes original signal with echo repeats</li>

<li>Tap tempo functionality by tapping on TIME label</li>

<li>REVERB Section:

<li>AMOUNT slider adjusts reverb effect level</li>

The Electro-Harmonix MINI-SYNTHESIZER app is user-friendly, packed with great sounds and features, appealing to both serious musicians and amateurs.

LIMITATIONS:

<ol>
<li>InterApp Audio may encounter periodic crashes and graphics issues.</li>

<li>The MINI SYNTH operates at a sample rate of 48 kHz; using it in a 44.1 kHz environment like Garageband for iOS could cause aliasing.</li>

<li>Saved presets in the standalone app cannot be accessed when using the MINI SYNTH as an AudioUnit, and vice versa.</li>
